What We Believe

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Our mission at Old Town Urban Farms is to build healthy communities, and we believe that starts with healthy food. Towards that goal, we grow only the freshest vegetables using organic principles and we use cover crops to replenish the soil. We care for the earth and we believe that she, in turn, will care for us — through healthy food that builds healthy bodies and improves mental health. We invite everyone to join us on this journey and to let us know how we can better serve you on yours.

Our Vision

At Old Town Urban Farms, we envision a vibrant, local food community in northern Colorado, and we're planning to play our part. Through our regular presence at local markets and selling to established restaurants to working with organizations that serve underserved communities and having a bit of fun on social media along the way, we aim to become a regular presence in northern Colorado and a valued community partner. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Community Supported Agriculture

Join Our CSA

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a funding model that became popular with small farmers in the United States during the early days of the organic food movement in the 1970s. In the CSA model, farmers receive payment from their customers before the season starts to help with seed costs, equipment, and operating expenses and customers then receive a "share" of the season's harvest.

At Old Town Urban Farms, our CSA members pay a set amount of their choosing and can use their credit as quickly or as slowly as they like to pick whatever products they like. Members can shop our booth at the Larimer County Farmers Market or during regular farm stand hours at our Old Town HQ.

CSA is not only great for farmers, but it's great for our Members, too! Sign-ups of $250+ before March 31 receive a produce bonus and special gifts throughout the growing season.

The Story Behind the Farm

About the Farmer

2020–2024

From Pandemic Garden to Passion

Like countless other Americans, my journey to vegetable gardening began with an old fashioned Victory Garden in the Spring of 2020, during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a south and west-facing planter in Old Town Fort Collins and the guidance of master gardener Mary Miller from The Gardens on Spring Creek, a hobby quickly became a passion then an obsession. Year by year, my front yard and hell strip were transformed from grass into a thriving vegetable operation, complete with pollinator gardens and a custom irrigation system.

2025

Taking the Leap

After a career change and an inspiring 10th anniversary trip to a lavender farm in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the dream of owning a farm became the goal. A year of apprenticeship at Belafonte Farms provided an invaluable education in scaling crop production, turning over beds, and prepping for farmers markets. Meanwhile, a small experimental plot under the tutelage of my second mentor, Tanja Andreas, and a tiny CSA for friends, family, and neighbors provided hands-on business experience. By the end of 2025, it was time to strike out independently.

2026

Here We Grow!

This year, Old Town Urban Farms is expanding with a 1-acre plot at the Flores del Sol Natural Area in addition to our original location in Old Town Fort Collins. Our expanded operations will allow us to grow a diverse selection of fresh vegetables for local markets and retail outlets that cater to individuals and families who seek out produce grown using organic principles, minimal tillage, and tons of heart.
